Our furniture fittings are handcrafted and dispatched from the United Kingdom. By placing an order with us, you agree to the terms outlined below.
1. International Orders – South Africa
All South African orders are shipped from the United Kingdom.
Please note that international deliveries may be subject to:
- Import VAT
- Customs duties
- Clearance fees
- Local handling charges
These charges are determined by South African customs authorities and are the responsibility of the customer. Unfortunately, we are unable to estimate or control these fees.
Any customs charges must be paid before delivery can be completed.
2. Delivery Information
Orders are dispatched within the current estimated lead times displayed on our website.
Made-to-order, bespoke, replica, or specialist-finished items may require additional production time.
International orders are shipped using trusted courier partners such as DHL, UPS, FedEx, Royal Mail International, or equivalent tracked delivery services.

3. Handcrafted & Bespoke Products
Many of our products are handcrafted, hand-finished, or made using traditional casting methods. As a result:
Minor variations in finish, tone, texture, and patina may occur
Antique and aged finishes may naturally vary between pieces
Product images are representative only
These characteristics form part of the handmade nature and authenticity of our products and are not considered faults.
4. Bespoke, Replica & Made-to-Order Items
Replica items, copy orders, custom-made products, scaled reproductions, and made-to-order items are non-returnable and non-refundable unless faulty.
This includes:
- Replica furniture fittings
- Custom casting work
- Special finish requests
- Modified products
- Reduced or resized reproductions
- Any item produced specifically to customer requirements
Please ensure all specifications, measurements, and details are checked carefully before ordering.
5. Returns Policy
Standard stock items may be returned within 28 days of delivery.
To qualify for a return:
- Goods must be unused and in original condition
- Items must be securely packaged
- Returns must be sent within 14 days of notifying us
- Proof of purchase must be provided
- Items must not have been installed, fitted, altered, or used
Returns should not be sent without prior authorisation.
We reserve the right to reduce refunds where returned items show signs of use, fitting attempts, damage, or inadequate packaging.
Nothing within this policy affects your statutory consumer rights under applicable law.
Approved refunds are typically processed within 5–10 working days after returned goods have been received and inspected.
6. How to Request a Return
To request a return, please contact us at info@optimumbrasses.co.uk with:
- Your order number
- The item(s) you wish to return
- The reason for return
We will provide return instructions where applicable.
7. International Return Shipping
Customers are responsible for all international return shipping costs to the United Kingdom.
Original shipping charges are non-refundable unless goods are faulty or supplied incorrectly.
We strongly recommend using a fully tracked and insured courier service, as we cannot accept responsibility for returns lost or damaged in transit.
8. Customs & Returned Goods
Returned parcels must be clearly labelled as:
“RETURNED GOODS”
This helps prevent additional customs charges upon re-entry into the United Kingdom.
Any customs charges, import fees, taxes, storage charges, or courier costs incurred due to incorrect labelling or refused deliveries may be deducted from any refund owed.
9. Refused Deliveries
If import duties, taxes, or customs charges are refused by the customer and the parcel is returned to us:
- Original shipping costs will not be refunded
- Return shipping charges and customs fees may be deducted from the refund
- Any non-returnable bespoke items will remain non-refundable
10. Delivery Attempts & Lost Parcels
Customers are responsible for ensuring delivery information is accurate and that parcels can be accepted upon delivery.
If a parcel is returned to us due to failed delivery attempts, incorrect address information, or non-collection from customs or courier depots, additional shipping charges may apply before re-dispatch.
Claims for lost parcels must be reported within 14 days of the estimated delivery date.
11. Faulty or Incorrect Goods
If you receive goods that are faulty, damaged, or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with:
- Your order number
- Photographs of the issue
- A description of the fault
- Customers should retain all original packaging and shipping materials when reporting transit damage.
Where appropriate, we will offer a replacement, repair, or refund in accordance with applicable consumer rights.
12. Product Suitability & Installation
Customers are responsible for ensuring products are suitable for their intended use prior to purchase.
As many items are traditionally reproduced from historical originals, measurements and fixing methods may differ from modern hardware standards.
Professional fitting is recommended where appropriate.
13. Currency & Exchange Rates
All prices are charged in Pounds Sterling (GBP £).
Your payment provider or bank may apply exchange rate conversions or international transaction fees.
