Copied from a plain flat headed knob (dating from 1730+) with a wood screw fixing. The original from which this was copied had a flat end to the wood screw as do these replicas. This knob is also available with a modern steel thread and nut as an alternative to the traditional thread.  The modern steel alternative makes installation easier if using in a kitchen, study or other interior design application.
