Description
Usually known as a fish-tail drop, this was the most frequently used drop on Charles II furniture of the period range 1670 – 1690. Very few original examples survive both because they break when drawer runners are worn and of course fashion. The witness marks on furniture show that this drop was very commonly used at the time. This example is copied from one from a small set of solid walnut spice drawers.
