Colouring Process

Here at Optimum Brasses we prefer to use a fuming process to achieve an aged finish rather than the impermanent and unpopular lacquering method used in mass production.

Light to Dark

This method separates us from others in the business and emulates our individual process of hand finished products.

By using a fuming process all hardware with antique finish will have its own-coloured characteristics and slight variations from batch to batch that we strive to keep to a minimum.

Customers can choose a light antique which will have a smooth, more even colour or a traditional antique which will have a darker, crackly effect with more character.

Products with a polished finish will naturally age over time if left.
